Instrument Proficiency Check

Avia's Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) will fine tune your instrument skills and give you back the confidence and proficiency to fly IFR in just about any environment. In addition to covering the basic skill set, such as attitude instrument flying, holds and approaches, our IPC course includes carefully crafted, scenario-based lessons that challenge the pilot's decision making and judgment. Through the use of our state-of-the-art training device (simulator), featuring a wrap-around visual display system, cockpit video and Garmin ® GNS430 GPS, pilots receive the most realistic and effective training experience possible...and for a fraction of the cost of the "big name" centers.

Course Objectives

To restore and enhance the pilot's knowledge, skill and aeronautical decision making necessary for the safe and efficient operation of a single/multi-engine piston airplane in a single-pilot IFR environment.


Private Pilot - Airplane certification (or higher) with Instrument privileges. Reasonable and recent IFR proficiency is required in order to complete the course in the allotted time.

Completion Standards

Pilots are required to perform to the standards given in the current Instrument Rating -Airplane Practical Test Standard.
